SISU Sports Education (SISU) is the sports own educational association and works with popular education and training within sports. RF and SISU have 19 districts that operate regionally and locally.

District Sports Director Småland,

Are you an experienced manager and leader who wants to lead and represent one of Sweden's largest sports districts?

In the role of District Sports Director in Småland, you will lead the sports district in interaction with the district board. Your mission will be to support, represent, lead, and coordinate the sports movement's common issues regionally and locally, as well as contribute to the development of the sports movement through popular education and training with a focus on the sports movement's strategic goals.

The long-term strategic work is ambitious and aims for associations and clubs throughout the country to be able to shape their development towards the future. It is in the clubs that the work of change starts, and here, the RF-SISU districts play a crucial role.

You lead one of the country's larger districts in terms of the number of active members in the district's approximately 1,800 sports clubs. The organization consists of about 50 employees distributed over 9 different offices around Småland, including an administrative unit in Jönköping. Your management team consists of 5 operations managers, an administrative manager, and a finance manager. You report to the RF-SISU Småland board and the Head of District Management, and the position is located in Jönköping, but your field of work will be all over Småland.

Your responsibilities and tasks 

• Lead and develop a stable organization to handle and implement complex assignments, in collaboration with employees, special sports district associations, and sports clubs
• Proactively build networks and drive interest-political work towards politicians and officials in the region and municipality, as well as the district's members of parliament, county administrative board, and others, to create good conditions for the district's sports clubs
• Responsibility for the district's operations and budget, as well as leading employees towards set goals in accordance with the long-term strategy and business direction.
• Work closely with the district board, and lead the operational activities through 7 directly reporting managers
• Develop and increase popular education and training activities by working for and contributing to the development of sports
• Implement the resources allocated to the district to get the most and best possible out of the operations
• Collaborate with other RF-SISU districts as well as with the central RF and SISU office where you are formally employed

Your background 

• Experience and knowledge of the sports movement; how it is structured and organized, and how it can look in terms of politics, decision-making, and power structures
• Knowledge of how politically led organizations function and experience and understanding of popular movements, popular education, and public administration
• Experience in leading through other managers at both strategic and operational levels with result, budget, and personnel responsibility.
• Experience of working in collaboration with a board.
• Experience in leading a multifaceted operation with many daily points of contact within and outside the organization
• Knowledgeable in financial management, monitoring, and control, as well as experience in leading in change
• Experience of association life/voluntary work in a club or association with its special dynamics.
• Very good skills in Swedish and English in speech and writing
