Destination Developer for Eketorps Castle on southern Öland
The whole of Öland attracts more and more people every year. Unique environments, high quality of life, and the proximity to both city and sea make Öland an attractive place to visit and live. Southern Öland, in turn, is characterized by strong progressiveness, commitment, and our fantastic World Heritage Site.
Mörbylånga municipality is located in the southern part of Öland and consists of approximately 1200 dedicated and competent employees who are driven to make a difference in our society. We are now looking for more employees who want to contribute to Öland continuing to be a fantastic place to live, work, and visit.
Eketorp Castle is Sweden's only completely excavated and reconstructed ancient castle, with buildings from both the Iron Age and the Middle Ages. The castle is located in the middle of the World Heritage Site of Southern Öland's agricultural landscape. Mörbylånga municipality is responsible for the operation and welcomes over 40,000 visitors annually to Eketorp Castle. Here, a long and exciting history is brought to life, and the goal is to develop the castle into a meeting place for residents and visitors in southern Öland. We are now looking for a driven and creative destination developer who wants to be part of shaping the future of Eketorp Castle.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily operations and planning
- Create and carry out events and activities throughout the year.
- Collaborate locally, regionally, and nationally with stakeholders to promote Eketorp Castle as a visitor destination
- Seek and drive development projects.
- Responsible for marketing and communication.

Qualifications
- Relevant university education in tourism, marketing, cultural studies, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in project management and business development.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Creative and solution-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Interest in archaeology, history, and cultural heritage is advantageous.
- Knowledge of German is advantageous
- B driver's license requirement
