Process Engineer at Göteborg Energi

Do you want to contribute to a sustainable energy supply? As a process engineer, you play an important role in delivering reliable energy to the residents of Gothenburg every day.

Your Task

The role of the process engineer involves being responsible for technically optimizing and developing our energy production facilities. This means analyzing and proposing solutions to increase the availability, performance, and profitability of the facilities in both the short and long term.

Specifically, this involves troubleshooting and analyzing operational data, events, and suggesting improvements to the operations and maintenance personnel. You will also work on optimizing performance, energy consumption, and environmental data for production facilities, which reduces costs from a long-term perspective. You will lead or participate in risk assessments.

On behalf of the facility function, you will conduct investigations and participate in change work to meet the needs regarding operational and process optimization.

Another important task is to participate in projects where you are the requirements setter within process design, which is crucial for the project's outcome. When minor renovations or changes occur within operations and maintenance, you may also be responsible for driving that work using the MOC (Management of Change) process.

The role includes planning and conducting internal training for operations and maintenance staff, as well as developing and updating operational manuals. You will also be involved in improvement work and be responsible for leading and participating in root cause analyses.

Your Team

You will belong to the Technical unit, which is part of the maintenance department within the Operations and Maintenance business area. The unit works with investigations and proposes reinvestments for heating, cooling, gas, and wind power, as well as pump stations in the distribution networks. Within the unit, there are engineers specialized in processes and maintenance.

Erland Blackås is the head of the Technical unit, and he describes the competencies that are important for the job of process engineer:

• -It is important that you are self-driven, analytical, systematic, and that the work largely involves collaboration between several units, which makes good teamwork skills a vital trait.
• You enjoy finding solutions to problems, and therefore you thrive when you can be creative and contribute new ideas and perspectives.
• Since you have an educational role, it is important that you have pedagogical skills and gain energy from contributing to others' learning.
• If you are interested in working with a socially important business and are driven by developing and analyzing process data, the job of process engineer is perfect for you!

Your Competence

We want you to have a degree from a technical university with a focus on chemistry, mechanical engineering/process technology, or equivalent competence that is deemed equally valuable.

You have practical experience as a process engineer or with similar tasks, preferably within energy production or another relevant field such as the process industry. Experience with HAZOP or other risk assessment methods is an advantage. We would also like you to have some system knowledge about biogas.

As a process engineer, you need to have good analytical skills, be proactive, and solution-oriented. You are self-driven and take responsibility for driving, leading, and completing your tasks. Together with others, you find solutions and achieve results. You are collaborative and have a good ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and other contacts. The majority of communication takes place in Swedish, and from a safety perspective, it is important that your Swedish is at a level that avoids misunderstandings.

To easily move between our facilities, you need to have a B driver's license. We have a car pool that you can use for work-related travel.

Göteborg Energi is part of Sweden's critical infrastructure, and many of our services are security classified. If this position is security classified, a security clearance will be conducted before employment, in accordance with the Security Protection Act.
