University Lecturer in Psychology

The Department of Psychology and Social Work operates at Campus Östersund. We conduct research and education in social work and the fundamental areas of psychology.

Job Responsibilities

The position as a university lecturer primarily involves teaching in our courses in the Personnel and Work Life Program and independent courses in subjects such as work and organizational psychology, personality psychology, and sports psychology.

Courses in other programs may also be included in the job responsibilities.

The job includes teaching, course development, and administration. The lecturer position involves teaching activities, such as lectures, seminars, and laboratory work, both on campus and remotely, as well as course examinations, etc. Additionally, it includes course planning, course development, and administrative tasks such as scheduling, course coordination, grading reporting, etc.

Qualifications

Eligible for the position as a university lecturer in psychology is someone who has obtained a master's degree with psychology as the main subject or has equivalent competence in the subject area of the position.

In addition to the general eligibility for the lecturer position as stated in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations, a psychology degree and Swedish psychologist license are required for this position.

Other Requirements

The candidate for the university lecturer position must have completed higher education pedagogical training or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, and demonstrated pedagogical skills.

The position requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. We are looking for a person who is attentive and has good collaboration skills while being structured and able to independently plan and execute their work.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria for hiring a university lecturer include the degree of skill required for eligibility for the position. The evaluation of pedagogical skills should receive equal attention as the evaluation of other eligibility-related conditions.

Experience with learning platforms such as Moodle and Canvas is advantageous. Additionally, good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form is beneficial, as course literature often appears in English and some teaching may occur in English.

Documented experience of teaching at the academic level in work and organizational psychology, personality psychology, and sports psychology is also an advantage.

Applicants will be assessed based on pedagogical skills, work and teaching experience, and personal qualities. Great emphasis will be placed on pedagogical skills.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a temporary appointment covering 100% from 2025-08-01 or by agreement, but no later than 2026-06-30.
