At Region Dalarna, you will find a meaningful job where you can make a difference. Together, we work for a sustainable Dalarna with development potential in all parts of the county.
Dalarna as a region offers fantastic quality of life with proximity to magnificent nature, outdoor activities, and a strong local community. Here, there is an opportunity for a balanced lifestyle where career and leisure go hand in hand. With good communication, affordable housing, and a rich cultural and recreational offering, Dalarna is an attractive place to live and work.
The Orthopedic Clinic in Falun is a regional clinic responsible for providing the residents in our catchment area with good and safe orthopedic healthcare. Our operations include acute and elective inpatient care, acute and elective outpatient care, and day surgery. In addition to being responsible for orthopedic healthcare within our catchment area, we are responsible for the entire region's population regarding spinal surgery. The primary catchment area includes approximately 200,000 residents, but regarding spinal surgery, for which we are responsible for the entire region's population, the number increases to 280,000 residents.
The orthopedic outpatient clinic in Falun handles approximately 30,000 outpatient visits per year. There is a care department with 18 beds for acute orthopedics and a department with 6 beds for elective orthopedics. We perform 4,000-4,300 surgeries per year, of which 150 are spinal surgeries. Given that Dalarna's total need for spinal surgeries is 300-350, our vision is to increase capacity so that the region's residents can be operated on in Falun instead of through care guarantee referrals, which occurs to a large extent today.
The clinic's spinal section currently consists of two specialist doctors who conduct outpatient consultations and surgeries for elective and acute spinal surgery, but not spinal fracture surgery.
