The Department of Health, Learning, and Technology (HLT) is an academic meeting place where scientific perspectives on knowledge about learning and health are brought together. The department offers degree programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, with many subjects also offering doctoral education leading to a PhD. At HLT, there are many programs and courses within the humanities and natural sciences.
The Department of Pedagogy, Language, and Subject Didactics (PSÄ) has a comprehensive operation with research, development, and teaching in basic education, commissioned education, and independent courses related to teacher education, preschool, and school.
We intend to strengthen subject competence in the area of Swedish with a didactic focus and are now seeking a university lecturer with expertise in reading and writing development as well as language and communication in young children.
Subject Description
Language and literature with a didactic focus is primarily concerned with research related to language and literature in schools, subject didactics, and the content of teacher education. The research includes cultural, literary, and linguistic perspectives. Central study objects are didactic aspects of children's, adolescents', and adults' communicative practices and conditions for language development as well as cultural and literary socialization. The research is mainly practice-oriented, primarily involving the school subjects Swedish and English, and is characterized by collaboration with practitioners in school practice.
Job Responsibilities
In your role as a university lecturer, you will primarily work with teaching in teacher education, mainly in the subject of Swedish for teacher students at the undergraduate level in the primary teacher programs F–3 and 4–6, independent courses, and supervision of thesis work in teacher education.
You will play an important role in our development and quality work and contribute experiences to the relevant operational areas. It is expected that you will be involved in research environments, research projects, and, where applicable, in doctoral education. It is of great importance that you feel comfortable communicating research results through academic publications.
Furthermore, collaboration with the surrounding community is an important part of the job responsibilities, as well as keeping up with the international development of the subject. You are expected to participate in/show interest in management and administrative tasks.
Eligibility for Employment as a University Lecturer
- have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence or have some other professional skill that is significant in relation to the position
- have demonstrated pedagogical skill through reflective experience, teaching ability, and teaching development
- have completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 7.5 credits or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way

Other assessment criteria (weighted in descending order):
- The degree of such competence that is a requirement for eligibility
- Teacher qualification for Swedish schools and documented teaching experience within primary teacher education
- Competence regarding research on the conditions of national minorities within school activities
- Ability to obtain external research and development funding
- Documented teaching experience within the core of educational sciences (UVK) and practice-based education (VFU)
- Documented experience of supervising independent work
- Documented experience of teaching within the Swedish subject in primary school as well as experience of teaching in the area of multilingualism and the subject of Swedish as a second language
- Administrative competence that is significant in relation to subject content and to the job responsibilities included in the employment, as well as the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community
For the position, good ability to use digital teaching tools, digital research tools, and digital administrative systems is also required. Furthermore, very good knowledge of Swedish and English is required. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

The employment is permanent and full-time. The place of employment is Luleå. Start date 25-09-01 or by agreement.
