We are looking for a primary school teacher, qualified in Swedish and German. Qualification is a must to apply for the job. You will work with all classes in grades 7-9 in Swedish and with small groups in German grades 6-9.

ABOUT US

Växjö International School (VIGS) is a free school that has been around for 15 years. We are a single-parallel F-9 school. The school has about 235 students and we moved into our newly renovated premises in the Norremark area in 2014/2015. Our classes in the lower grades have 20 students per class and in the upper grades we have 26 in each class. In all lessons F-6 and many grades 7-9, there are resource teachers present to support students who need it. We have motivated students from all corners of the world and there is a good study culture among the students. We teach in both Swedish and English and aim to make our students bilingual. This means that you must master both Swedish and English, with at least one language being fluent and the other at a level where you can understand and make yourself understood. We encourage you to take students on study visits or invite various community actors to deepen understanding of a specific subject area.

The school's staff is very engaged and knowledgeable with a very low turnover (the advertised position is due to retirement). We enjoy working together and support each other. For us, safety and a conducive learning environment are very important, and our small size allows students and teachers to know each other well, which fosters well-being and thus learning. We maintain close contact with guardians when necessary.

ABOUT YOU

You are a certified teacher. You are confident in yourself and your professional role. You easily build good relationships with students and create a conducive learning environment while adapting teaching to students' diverse needs. You are solution-focused, creative, and have a positive view of students. You collaborate well with both colleagues and guardians. Ideally, you have a few years of experience. You are accustomed to planning, implementing, assessing, providing feedback to students, and are positive about systematically evaluating your own teaching.
