The Swedish Coast Guard is looking for a Vessel Systems Leader for the Vessel Technology Unit within the Material and Local Supply Department.

The Material and Local Supply Department has overarching and coordinating responsibilities for technical development, technical maintenance, and sustainment. You will belong to the Vessel Technology Unit, which is part of the Material and Local Supply Department. The Vessel Technology Unit is the division responsible for the maintenance and sustainment of the Coast Guard's vessels.

Responsibilities

The Swedish Coast Guard is seeking a Vessel Systems Leader focused on the management and development of assigned vessels in collaboration with other Systems Leaders and Vessel Inspectors.

The role involves contacts with both suppliers and the Coast Guard's crews, as well as responsibility for your own budget. The Systems Leader is primarily responsible for the configuration and technical systems of one or more series of vessels. The Systems Leader is responsible for the long-term planning of the vessel series and drives the work together with the management group for each series, ensuring that the preventive maintenance covered by these systems is correct. The Systems Leader also has a coordinating role in the long-term material management work and proposes decommissioning or development of subsystems or entire systems.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a marine engineering degree or post-secondary education in maintenance and marine industry or equivalent experience as assessed by the employer.

• good knowledge of maintenance systems
• participated in review projects at shipyards with vessels similar to those operated by the Coast Guard
• participated in modifications or upgrades of subsystems on vessels as mentioned above
• knowledge of drawing management
• experience in budgeting, monitoring, and financial reporting

It is advantageous if you have;

• served in a total defense authority
• training in project management
• experience working in technical management or technical shipping functions
• experience with maintenance systems like AMOS

You have a good ability to collaborate and cooperate, as well as to create and maintain relationships - we place great importance on assessing your social skills, as well as valuing your abilities and qualities necessary for the tasks.

You enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. You take initiative and have a strong interest in technology and development. You are professional and responsible with a humble attitude. We expect you to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Conditions

Permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period. Start date as soon as agreed.

Location: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Karlskrona, Härnösand

For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required.

The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international operations. Therefore, the position includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for operations.

In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be placed in a war position.
