Group Controller Wanted

We are looking for someone who wants to work in an exciting and developing role as a Group Controller. Your tasks will be broad and varied but will mainly include; budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis for the group management and boards.

The Strängnäs municipal group includes committees and companies. The corporate group consists of wholly owned and partially owned companies that mainly operate in the areas of electricity networks and distribution, water and sewage, recycling, housing, operational properties, and district heating. The companies are gathered in the parent company Strängnäs kommunföretag AB, which is a holding company without employees where the municipal director is the CEO.

The position of group controller is based in the finance department of Strängnäs municipality with the task of being an effective support to the board and management of Strängnäs kommunföretag AB and the municipal executive board in the management, governance, and follow-up of the corporate group. As a group controller, you have good opportunities to influence and develop the work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of group controller, you will work across the group. A large part of the work is done through ongoing operational follow-up, which is reported in the group’s reporting to the parent company’s board and the municipal executive board.

You will be responsible for preparing budgets, financial statements, and annual reports, as well as some ongoing accounting for Strängnäs kommunföretag AB. You will be responsible for the ongoing follow-up of the group’s subsidiaries and the development of group reporting.

You will also participate in the work of developing corporate governance, group accounting, and conducting investigations on behalf of group management and boards. The work includes preparing matters and reporting to board meetings.

The role also includes being part of the finance department's ongoing improvement work and developing routines, processes, and working methods. The work is done in close collaboration with colleagues in the municipality and the companies. You will be a natural link between subsidiaries, the parent company, and the municipality's operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a university or college degree with an economic focus or equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• several years of experience in qualified controller work or equivalent experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• experience in independently driving and coordinating assignments and investigations.
• experience in independently writing and preparing decision-making materials.
• very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

We also consider it meritorious if you have:

• worked in a larger organization, preferably with governance and follow-up in a political organization.
• experience in preparing group accounting.
• experience in working with corporate and ownership issues in a political organization.

You see opportunities and take initiative and can prioritize and coordinate both ongoing tasks and larger assignments. You have a good strategic view and see the big picture but are also operationally effective. To succeed in the assignment, you must have a very good analytical ability, a structured working method, a good ability to communicate financial issues clearly and pedagogically, and a strong desire to contribute to development.
