The Department of Children, Culture, and Education is seeking a mother tongue teacher/tutor in Tigrinya 20% for Bredgårdsskolan/Hedenvindsskolan/Vattudalsskolan in Strömsund.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Regardless of age, a rich and varied language is essential for understanding and participating in a society where cultures, worldviews, generations, and languages meet.

This position includes mother tongue instruction and study guidance in Tigrinya, which will take place at various schools in the Strömsund urban area. As a mother tongue teacher, you will plan, implement, and follow up on the instruction in the subject of mother tongue according to the curriculum of compulsory school.

Your task includes assessing and grading the student’s knowledge. The position may also include study guidance. This means providing support to multilingual students in their studies and acting as a language bridge between the school, the student, and the home. You will plan, implement, evaluate, and develop the educational work both independently and together with teachers at the school.

You may also support newly arrived children and their guardians to help them understand and integrate into the school’s routines.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a qualified teacher with a Swedish teaching license. We assume that you have Tigrinya as your mother tongue and can speak, read, and write it fluently. It is an advantage if you also have good knowledge of another language. In addition, you must also master the Swedish language in both speech and writing. Good computer skills are required.
