Music Educator Guitar/Electric Guitar Wanted at Strängnäs Cultural School

Strängnäs Cultural School offers guitar courses for children and youth from the age of 9, as well as high school courses at the municipality's two high schools. Students who choose instrument/vocal as a high school course also have the Ensemble1 course in years 2 and 3, where guitar is an important instrument.

We are now looking for a music educator for guitar/electric guitar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role includes teaching both regular cultural school courses and high school courses in guitar/electric guitar and ensemble, as well as arranging for the ensemble course when needed. You will also participate in other outreach activities such as performances and concerts. The role also includes administering and conducting term exams for high school courses, as well as participating in staff meetings, APT, and other joint professional development and staff activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a music college degree or equivalent with guitar/electric guitar as a clear main subject, as well as methodology/pedagogy for both instrumental teaching and ensemble. A broad genre is important to meet students' wishes.
• the ability to teach using several different notation systems.
• previous experience as a teacher in, for example, a music or cultural school and/or music high school.
• a B driver's license.
• knowledge of the Office suite.
• good knowledge of the Swedish language as teaching is conducted in Swedish.
• knowledge of notation software such as Finale, Sibelius, or Musescore.
• StudyAlong.

We naturally hope that you have good playing skills on your main instrument. We may arrange auditions and/or teaching tests on the main instrument in connection with the interview. We welcome, for example, studies abroad and/or other experiences in your background that contribute to increased diversity in the workplace.
