Committed Vocational Teacher Wanted for the Vehicle and Transport Program

We are looking for a committed vocational teacher for the Vehicle and Transport Program IMYFT – an introductory program for students who do not yet have the qualifications for a national program. Here, we work in a small, dedicated team to create opportunities and hope for our students.

The Vehicle and Transport Program is located at Rekarnegymnasiet, which is Eskilstuna's largest high school, with about 1300 students and 150 staff members. The teaching for this position takes place in facilities at the Vilsta industrial area, where you will work in a team of three people. At the same time, there is close collaboration with the school's special educators, counselors, school nurses, and career advisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vocational teacher with us, you will combine theoretical and practical teaching in vehicle technology. Your role is not only to teach; you will also help students find internship placements (APL), follow up on their development, and collaborate with the labor market in Eskilstuna and surrounding areas. Through good contacts with the industry, you create opportunities for students to get a good start in working life. The role also includes mentorship, where you are an important role model for the students and guide them both in vocational subjects and in their personal development.

You will collaborate with guardians, school management, and other important community actors such as social services and BUP. Additionally, you will have regular contact with companies in the automotive industry, industry organizations, and supervisors at car workshops, who, through the program council, help develop the education and create valuable internship opportunities for students.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained automotive mechanic or vehicle technician with professional experience in the field. You have experience working with young people - this can be through APL supervision, as a youth leader, or in another role where you have interacted with young people. You need to have some computer skills and good contacts with the labor market, as you will actively work to find and establish APL placements for students.

Your personal qualities are important to us. You are a secure and stable person with the ability to create trusting relationships. You are flexible and see opportunities in each student's unique needs, where you, with a solution-focused approach, find individual paths forward. Since many of our students have had a challenging school experience, it is important that you can meet them with patience, sensitivity, and a coaching attitude that strengthens their self-esteem and motivation. You enjoy working independently, take your own initiatives, and drive processes forward to create the best conditions for students' development and future.
