The Workplace

The school is beautifully located on Gnestahöjden, a ten-minute walk from Gnesta train station, 40 minutes from Stockholm C. The main organization is a non-profit association founded in 1993. Gnesta is a growing municipality, and we are a modern Waldorf school that is constantly growing and developing with nearly 200 students ranging from preschool to grade 9 and after-school care.

Gnesta Waldorf School is characterized by a holistic view of students aimed at developing the whole person – thought, feeling, and will. Some aspects that distinguish our pedagogy are that we work with interdisciplinary theme periods and aim to integrate creative activities such as art, crafts, and music into all subjects of the school.

The Position

The position is part-time, 40-60%, and will begin with a 6-month probationary period. The start date will be agreed upon, preferably from 11/8-25.

Responsibilities:

As a school counselor, you will help create conditions for an inclusive school environment where students encounter a socially accessible environment. You will contribute to increased understanding, collegial knowledge, and tools regarding children's varying conditions. You will contribute your expertise to the school's student health team. As a school counselor, you are part of the school's Safety Team. A significant part of the work will be preventive and promoting. Mapping at the group level, conversations with guardians, meeting students in groups and individually, and working with classes on issues within your profession in collaboration with educators are some of the tasks included in the position. You will also play a role in our work to promote attendance, which we call Attendance GWS.

Who We Are Looking For:

You are a qualified social worker with experience working in primary education. We are looking for someone skilled at inspiring, leading conversations, building trust, and who has good knowledge of how we can develop the social environment to better meet students' needs. You need to be structured and have foresight. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues on issues related to children's development and learning, and you are adept at building trust and creating respectful relationships with students, colleagues, and parents alike. You are a warm, responsible, and clear person with an inclusive approach, possessing good communication skills, and you enjoy being part of a continuous development process with your colleagues. Our work in the student health team is based on trust, and we have a close collaboration. You work selflessly with everyone at the school and see it as a strength to make a difference together.
