Primary School Teacher for Sala's Central Special Education Group

An opportunity has arisen to work in Sala's central special education group (CSU group) for students in need of support outside the regular classroom. The CSU group is organized under the principal of Ängshagenskolan and is located centrally in Sala. We accept students in need of special support from all primary schools in Sala, for shorter or longer periods. Currently, we have space for about 10-15 students. The CSU group consists of eight staff members with various competencies: teachers, behavioral scientists/social workers, resource teachers, special teachers, and a coordinator.

In Sala municipality's schools, we have a vision and an approach that states, "All students proceed to higher studies or work after completing their upper secondary education. In Sala, we have high expectations, and we know that we can help all students succeed." Students are to be prepared for further studies and work. The guiding principles of the CSU group are "Knowledge, safety, and belief in the future." We have a clear educational mission. Our view of students is that "students do right if they can," and we see students' need for support as "needs arising in the interaction with the school." For example, we view outwardly aggressive behavior as a symptom of something that becomes too difficult for the student, and we find solutions by analyzing what triggers the symptoms. Therefore, we work a lot with attitudes and responses, and we have a fundamental belief that all students want and can succeed. We strive to work with a salutogenic approach and with low-arousal responses. We are now looking for you who are a primary school teacher and have an interest in working with students in need of support.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves working with students primarily in grades 4-9. You work goal-oriented, solution-focused, and have a good structure in your work. You contribute to our students' development towards regular teaching at their home school, further studies, and future work. It is also part of the job to collaborate closely with other staff in the CSU group and with the staff at the students' home schools. As a behavioral scientist, you support the other staff in the CSU group based on your profession, and you also support the students' teachers at the home schools, e.g., to prepare for the return to the home school for students in the CSU group.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in behavioral sciences. We prefer that you have experience working with students in need of special support. As a person, you are responsible, structured, and clear, and you have a solution-focused approach. You have the ability to meet each student's individual needs and to strengthen their self-confidence. You recognize the small progress students make, as for our students, it is often a long-term effort where successes need to be highlighted to build self-confidence. You can work independently, think outside the box, and adapt your work based on the needs present in the learning environment. You have good knowledge of various diagnoses within NPF and contribute to increasing our understanding of the student and their needs.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We believe you will fit in with us if you have good collaboration skills, a strong student focus, and can see and listen to personal needs while spreading safety. Sala is a geographically large municipality with many schools in rural areas, which makes a B driver's license a requirement.

Employment Conditions

Temporary position until 24/10-25, with a possibility of extension. Full-time with the option for part-time. Vacation service. Start date by agreement. Individual salary setting. A B driver's license is required. A background check is required upon job offer. This is according to the law on background checks in school, leisure, and preschool activities. National Police Board's criminal record, RPS 442.5 (14-01-14).

Thanks to short distances, free public transport, and good services throughout the municipality, there is an opportunity for quality of life and an easier everyday life. When the longing for the big city takes over, you can easily take the train; you reach Västerås and Uppsala in about 30 minutes and Stockholm in just over an hour. If you are not ready to leave the big city for Sala yet, it is of course fine to commute, which several of our 2000 employees do. Sala has its historical significance, primarily Sala Silver Mine, its given place on Sweden's map.

The main industries are agriculture, tourism, and small industry. Sala is an eco-municipality, which means that the common foundation for all activities is sustainable development.
