Together, we are developing Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we work towards quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – in a cohesive healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always in focus. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, but also highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and contribute to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify everyday life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and effective care of the highest quality.
About the Organization
Clinical Microbiology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital currently employs around 200 staff. We conduct clinical microbiological diagnostics of infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, and are active in research, education, and teaching. The organization is divided into five units, and we are currently seeking new colleagues for the Bacteriology unit, where we have about 45 employees.
Within the bacteriological unit, we diagnose infections caused by bacteria, fungi, and parasites. We work with culture-based, microscopic, and molecular biological techniques. Many of our samples are cultivated on our automated culture line with associated digital reading. At the same time, the tasks require practical skills and an interest in manual laboratory work.
What Do We Offer?
We offer a stimulating and developing job with varied microbiological tasks, cutting-edge technology, and good opportunities for deepening knowledge in clinical microbiology. We are an attractive workplace with an open work climate, engaged employees, and a coaching leadership style that encourages participation and good employee relations.
With us, you will gain professional development through responsibilities for instruments and diagnostics as well as by participating in the education and teaching of colleagues and students. The organization offers courses, lectures, and research opportunities in clinical microbiology.
About the Job Responsibilities
If you want to work with us, you enjoy microbiology and thrive in routine work in a larger unit. As a new employee, you will receive gradual introduction and training in the methods and techniques you will use. You will work in diagnostic tasks focusing on culture, species, and resistance determination of clinically relevant findings, and eventually make advanced assessments of cultures independently. We continuously work to improve our operations with the patient in focus, and you are expected to contribute and actively participate in our improvement efforts.
Weekend work is included in scheduled operations.
About You
We are looking for a licensed biomedical analyst or someone in the final stages of their education with an interest in microbiology. You are prepared to invest time and commitment to deepen your theoretical and practical knowledge in the field to become one of our skilled and independent employees. You are driven and want to be involved in developing and improving our operations. It is natural for you to collaborate well with others and to be attentive and good at communicating. You have an analytical approach, can work independently, take responsibility, make your own assessments and decisions, and are good at planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We will conduct interviews continuously throughout the recruitment process.
Warm welcome with your application!
