Regulatory Affairs Specialist BIM Kemi

About the position:

You will be part of the Environmental & Regulatory Affairs department (ERA) along with three other colleagues. ERA supports the entire BIM group and is located at our headquarters in Stenkullen, outside Gothenburg. We have a strong focus on contributing to sustainable business development, driving continuous improvements, and providing excellent service to our customers. An important task is to ensure that BIM Kemi complies with applicable environmental and chemical legislation, meets the requirements of our environmental and quality management systems, and follows BIM Kemi's sustainability policy.

The position of Regulatory Affairs Specialist means that you will provide support regarding our chemical products throughout the value chain – from procurement and product development to production, sales, and use by the end customer. The focus of this role is to support our organization in the UK in these areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, communicate, and implement legislation within the UK and EU (including CLP, BPR, and REACH). If necessary, also adapt to national chemical legislation in other countries.

  • Investigate and approve newly developed or adapted products and establish and update relevant documentation.

  • Act as expert support in research and development projects regarding the health and environmental profile of raw materials and products.

  • Investigate and respond to customer inquiries about the product safety profile of our products.

  • Maintain contact with environmental and product safety departments at customers and suppliers.

  • Train and support other departments within the BIM group.

  • Participate in the development of processes, routines, and tools in the areas of product safety, environment, and sustainability.

Requirements:

University degree with a focus on chemistry or another equivalent relevant education, e.g., environmental science, biology, or ecotoxicology. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

Good knowledge of applicable laws and standards regarding chemicals, such as EU/UK REACH, EU/GB CLP, EU/GB BPR, transport regulations, and cosmetic regulations. A few years of work experience in classification and labeling of chemicals as well as the establishment of safety data sheets. Previous experience in product safety regarding materials in contact with food (BfR, FDA, GB 9685-2016) and frameworks for sustainability.
