Your role as head chef

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated head chef who will lead and develop our kitchen and staff. Perhaps you are in this role today or feel ready to take the next step.

You will be responsible for the daily operations in the kitchen, creating menus, ensuring the highest quality of food, and leading and developing our chefs. As a leader, you have a twinkle in your eye, are creative, possess organizational skills, have knowledge of kitchen economics, and are communicative.

You are confident in yourself, see solutions and potential paths forward for guests and staff. As a head chef, you are structured and ensure that the highest quality is maintained at all levels, all for our guests.

We serve breakfast, lunch, and à la carte daily. The restaurant has 80 seats, which is expanded by an additional 50 during the summer. We also have a significant amount of catering assignments during parts of the year (mainly September to March).

For you, it is natural to take on challenges with great commitment and energy.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a positive attitude towards work

• Has several years of experience as a head chef or in a similar role, or feels ready to take the next step in your development

• Has good leadership skills

• Is creative and has an eye for detail

• Is accustomed to working with both quality and cost-effectiveness

• Is good at communicating in daily operations

About us

The property was built in 1935 and at that time housed a hotel, a town hall, and even a bank, and from the very beginning, it has played a central role in the lives of the people of Nybro.

Nybro Stora Hotellet is now a hotel, restaurant, and conference facility with 31 rooms, 4 conference rooms, 1 restaurant, and the fantastic Stadshussalen with Northern Europe's largest fresco. On March 18, 2019, the property was acquired by ThuGu Fastigheter and underwent a complete renovation, reopening in November 2020.

We are extremely proud to have offered hotel and restaurant services for five years to both overnight guests and day visitors in our restaurant and conference department, as well as various catering assignments.

In the area

Kalmar is located 25 km to the east, Växjö 80 km to the west, and Öland is a 30-minute drive away.

In Nybro, you will find Svartbäcksmåla outdoor facility, which offers both alpine and cross-country skiing in winter.

There are several preschools, primary schools, and a high school. Shops for most purposes are available. If by any chance something is not available, it is no further away than Kalmar. Öland, with its wonderful beaches and nature, offers much for leisure time.

If you enjoy being active in your spare time, there is a large association life. Everything from orienteering, football, cycling, skiing, hiking, table tennis, dog training clubs, padel, arts and crafts associations, martial arts, swimming & triathlon.

The city also offers several well-stocked grocery stores, banks, health centers, and shopping.
