The psychiatric area in Region Örebro County is a specialist operation that includes; outpatient and inpatient care, emergency services, intensive care, addiction care, psychosis care, forensic psychiatric care, and care for children and young adults.

General Psychiatry

The general psychiatry wards at the University Hospital in Örebro receive and care for patients in need of general psychiatric inpatient care. The mission includes, for example, providing psychiatric emergency care for patients who need a higher level of psychiatric care to ensure that the patient receives a safe and secure care environment. Our psychiatric emergency reception consists of an experienced staff group that meets our psychiatric patients who need to seek emergency care at any hour of the day.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) ward is a psychiatric emergency ward for children and adolescents up to 18 years old. Admission to the ward usually occurs on a planned basis after contact with the child and adolescent psychiatry outpatient clinics. During evenings, nights, and weekends, admission may become relevant after contact with the psychiatric emergency reception. We work with an individual focus and collaborate with other care providers as well as with parents or guardians.

Forensic Psychiatry

The forensic psychiatry in Örebro consists of four wards. Patients here have been sentenced to care under the Forensic Psychiatric Care Act (LRV). The complex care needs of the patients make the work varied, long-term, and stimulating. Each patient has their own interdisciplinary team around them that works with the individual's issues together with the patient. We work with an individual focus and collaborate with other care providers as well as with relatives.

Specialist Psychiatry

The psychosis care ward at Karlahuset. The target group is primarily patients with psychotic disorders over the age of 18, with flexibility from 16 years of age. The core of the mission for the units is to carry out multiprofessional inpatient interventions focusing on evidence-based care in accordance with care and intervention programs for schizophrenia and the integrated and person-centered care pathway for first-time psychotic patients.

The Addiction Center ward offers assessment and treatment interventions to individuals in the county who have a substance abuse/dependency and who are also experiencing mental health issues. The Addiction Center receives both young people and adults. Patients come to the Addiction Center either through referral or by contacting us on their own. The operation also includes the Addiction Center's detoxification ward.
