Special Educator Wanted for Skolfam Student Health in Helsingborg

Skolfam Helsingborg is growing and we are now starting a third team! Therefore, we are looking for a special educator who wants to make a difference for children placed in foster homes.

About the Workplace

In Helsingborg, it is the student health service that, together with the social services, has organizational responsibility for the Skolfam teams. In Helsingborg, we have two Skolfam teams. Each team consists of a special educator, a psychologist, the child's social worker, and the foster care secretary. The special educators and psychologists are part of the student health service while having their physical workplace at the social services. The special educators have regular meetings and other development meetings together with special educators and speech therapists working within the student health service's operational support.

Job Responsibilities

Skolfam is a preventive work model aimed at strengthening school results for children in foster care. The foundation of the Skolfam model is based on preventive work, cross-professional collaboration, children's participation, and measurability. The model is manual-driven and scientifically evaluated. Evaluations conducted in Helsingborg show consistently positive results. Skolfam makes a difference! The manual-driven work is presented here in four steps:

  • Mapping: The Skolfam team conducts an individual mapping of the child's conditions for school results.
  • Planning: The plan describes interventions to close knowledge gaps, optimal challenges in schoolwork, and to ensure the child reaches as far as possible based on their conditions.
  • Follow-up: Throughout the work, the child's school development is continuously monitored.
  • Evaluation: After two to four years, the mapping is repeated. The goal is always for the child to be eligible to apply for a national high school program.

Each team has about 24 children assigned to them. The children are primarily placed in municipalities near Helsingborg, but there are instances where children are placed in municipalities outside of Helsingborg. Therefore, the work involves some travel.

Qualifications

  • You are an educated and experienced special educator in preschool and/or primary school, preferably with younger age groups.
  • You are a licensed teacher authorized to teach Swedish and mathematics.
  • You have experience teaching students in lower grades.
  • You are well acquainted with and have experience working with the tasks specified in the special educator's examination ordinance.
  • You are familiar with pedagogical mapping and can use the results to influence pedagogical development.
  • You have extensive experience in mapping students' knowledge in Swedish and mathematics and can use the results to influence pedagogical development.
  • You have experience supporting and mentoring educators and other professionals within the school environment.
  • You view systematic follow-up, analysis, and evaluation as a natural part of the work.
  • You are structured and well-planned as a person and find it easy to meet people with different conditions and backgrounds from a salutogenic perspective.
  • You take responsibility for your assignment and are driven by challenges and development work.
  • You find it easy to work in a team and see the team as a strength to achieve the goal.
  • You have a driver's license.
