University Lecturer in Fire Technology with a focus on Fire Chemistry

Subject
Fire Technology with a focus on Fire Chemistry
Specific Subject Description
The position is primarily linked to fire processes and fire protection, as well as the consequences of the release of chemical substances commonly found in industry. The area may include the origin, spread, and development of fires in buildings and vehicles and include active fire-limiting measures such as extinguishing and limiting fire spread. The area also covers the release of gases and liquids into the external environment and the consequences resulting from such accidents. The position mainly involves teaching students in the fire technology program at LTH and conducting independent research related to the subject. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and covers the subjects of fire chemistry and consequence analyses of the release of liquids and gases.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include:
- Teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels.
- Supervision of thesis students.
- Collaboration with industry and society.
- Independent research training.
- Administration related to the above responsibilities.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the position of university lecturer requires:
- A completed degree at an advanced level or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way, as well as other competencies that are significant concerning the subject focus of the position and the tasks included in the employment.
- Demonstrated pedagogical skills.
- Five weeks of higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way unless there are special reasons.
Other Requirements:
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
- Good command of Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Excellent knowledge of fire chemistry and fire dynamics.
- Good knowledge of the consequences of the release of flammable liquids and gases.
- Experience in teaching within the subject area, including laboratory teaching.
Assessment Criteria
The following will serve as the basis for assessment when hiring a university lecturer:
- Good subject knowledge relevant to the content of the position and the tasks included.
- Good pedagogical ability, which means a good ability to conduct and develop teaching and other pedagogical activities at various levels and with varying teaching methods.
- Very good professional experience or other experience relevant to the position.
Other Merits:
Knowledge of fire-limiting techniques commonly used in industry.
Consideration will also be given to good collaboration skills, drive, and independence, as well as how the applicant is assessed to complement and strengthen the department and contribute to its future development through their experience and competence.
Other
The position is a temporary appointment from September 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, and involves a workload of 100%. An agreement on another time period can be made if necessary. Interviews will be conducted to gain further insight into the applicant. Interviews may be conducted on-site in Lund or via Zoom.
