Postdoctoral Researcher in Semiconductor Materials

Job Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the postdoctoral researcher is to conduct research.
Teaching may also be included in the job responsibilities, but no more than one-fifth of the working time. Within the framework of the employment, there is an opportunity for three weeks of higher education pedagogical training. The purpose of the employment is to develop independence as a researcher and create conditions for further qualification.
You will be responsible for independently designing, planning, and conducting experiments, including developing project ideas. Several additional tasks may be required:
- Teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels
- Supervision of theses and doctoral students
- Actively seeking external research funding
- Collaboration with industry and society
- Administration related to the above job responsibilities
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, one must have obtained a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree, in the relevant field of the position. Proof of meeting the eligibility requirement must be submitted by the time the employment decision is made. Primarily, the applicant who has obtained their degree no more than three years before the application deadline will be considered. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been obtained earlier.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent oral and written proficiency in English.
- Doctoral degree in engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with handling either electron microscopy or spectroscopy of functional semiconductor materials.
- Advanced theoretical knowledge of nucleation/growth of nanocrystals in semiconductor materials.
- Good problem-solving skills and linguistic analytical ability.
Assessment Criteria
This is a qualification position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in the career, and the assessment of applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific ability within the subject area.
For the appointment of a postdoctoral researcher, the following will be the basis for assessment:
- Good ability to develop and conduct high-quality research.
- Pedagogical ability.
Other Qualifications:
Experience in any of the following will be considered advantageous:
- Synthesis of semiconductor nanocrystals with controllable size
- Experience using semiconductor nanocrystals in light-conversion applications (e.g., photocatalytic and solar cells)
- Structural and morphological studies using advanced electron microscopy techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)

The position is temporary for two years and is full-time. The employment is limited according to the collective agreement, “Agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher.”
