The Gothenburg Primary School Administration is one of the largest school administrations in Sweden. We are responsible for the city's municipal schools from preschool class to ninth grade, adapted primary school, cultural school, and after-school care. The administration has 138 municipal primary schools where nearly 47,000 students attend school every day. The entire administration has about 9,700 employees who work together to develop and take care of the operation - together we pave the way for the school of the future.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

All students want to succeed in their education, which is why we are looking for a special education teacher who wants to:

  • Work so that all students succeed in their education!
  • Work with a mission focused on grades F-6 from the school's perspective F-6 with a view towards upper secondary school!
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and practically teach students who need special support in reading, writing, mathematics, and English F-6. This may be support that stems from the school's subjects as our language and mathematical understanding develop and deepen in the meeting with all school subjects. Classroom teachers are responsible for students based on extra adaptations, but some students need a little more to get their reading speed, mathematical understanding, language comprehension, and English going.
  • Collaborate with teachers particularly responsible for intensive Swedish for newly arrived students.
  • As a special assignment, shape teaching to attract reading/writing skills and mathematical understanding by meeting students individually and/or in groups for a while every day over a six-week period. What we call intensive reading/intensive mathematics.
  • Work together with and in close collaboration with classroom teachers to meet particularly gifted students who need more challenges a couple of times a week.
  • Work with students who need other challenges based on their strengths. Students who want to learn more and discuss to understand and think together with others.
  • Work preventively and health-promoting on an individual, group, and organizational level through continuous and structured collaboration with classroom teachers to design teaching together with the school's educators and student health.
  • Work strategically and preventively to map and remove obstacles in the student's physical, pedagogical, and social learning environment to create an accessible learning environment for all students.
  • Contribute special educational expertise to the school's educators and be involved in the pedagogical investigation/mapping of the student's need for special support and evaluation of the same.
  • Guide and support teachers in working with extra adaptations.
  • Guide educators at the school so we can see opportunities and develop pedagogical leadership in the classroom.
  • Use and stay updated on research-based working methods and have experience exchange with other staff in relevant subject areas.
  • Work closely and together with the school's special educator, special teachers, student health, and school management.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Be a part of and contribute to the school's systematic quality work individually, together with the combined student health and the school's educators by, for example, analyzing extra adaptations, pedagogical mapping, writing action plans, and making knowledge compilations and mappings that can be used in the school's development work.

- Be part of the school's development group in our joint competence development work at the school.

- Contact and engage in dialogue with parents in collaboration with staff and the school's educators regarding students.

You are a qualified special education teacher with a focus on reading, writing, and mathematics. You are a licensed teacher in Swedish and mathematics. This means that you are an educated special teacher and teacher in Swedish, mathematics with additional special teacher competence at the university level. You have solid knowledge in the area through grades and documented knowledge. Your assignment will be focused on work in grades F-6 from the school's perspective F-6. You have experience working with teaching and have strong communication skills. You are a person with great flexibility who is used to working together with educators and students based on a large map of extra adaptations. You can interact with students, educators, parents, and school management. You are an active part of our school-wide work and are used to working digitally. You are part of the school's student health work.
