The City of Gothenburg's preschool administration is responsible for education and care for approximately 25,000 children in nearly 360 municipal preschools. The administration has about 7,000 employees who work together with children's learning and development at the center. JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for someone with both courage and commitment to contribute to a service organization with high ambitions for Gothenburg's youngest residents, our children in preschool.

We are now seeking a unit manager for internal services in meal and cleaning. As the unit manager for meal and cleaning, you will be responsible for ensuring that preschools in Gothenburg receive quality service within the operational area.

As a unit manager, you will lead a unit where you, together with your 25-30 employees, work to deliver a uniform and high level of service throughout the city to create conditions for our children to develop. You have operational responsibility for personnel, finances, operations, results, and work environment within your unit. You will also initiate and drive development issues in the area in close collaboration with your managerial colleagues, other professionals, and external contacts.

The assignment includes leading based on the organization's values and the city's approach, as well as developing a culture that builds and creates trust, transparency, and a good work environment. Through culture and structure, you create systematic conditions for good communication and dialogue within internal services to deliver the highest quality service to the core operations. In the role of unit manager, you are also expected to actively collaborate with union representatives and other stakeholders within the City of Gothenburg.

The internal services operation is organized by a business manager and consists of 24 unit managers for the areas of meal and cleaning. The units are organized under the preschool administration's school manager, and you will work closely with other unit managers in the area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has a university degree of at least 180 credits as a nutrition economist, or with another focus that the employer deems relevant for the position. You have previous work-related experience in a leadership role.

Meritorious

It is an advantage if you have previous managerial experience and practical experience in the operational area. If you also have knowledge from leadership studies, that is a plus.

The following competencies are included in Gothenburg City's leadership criteria; influencing others, holistic view, goal- and result-oriented, analytical, and attentive. This means we are looking for someone who is a clear and good communicator who gets a hearing for thoughts and ideas and has a good ability to take others' perspectives into account by listening to other people to understand their needs. You have a coaching approach to your employees to create conditions for them to succeed in their tasks. With your holistic view, you can place your own operation's significance in a larger context and show interest in and collaborate on overarching issues to create added value.

As a unit manager, you are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to translate these into concrete actions. You are responsible for implementing decisions made and making them understandable for your employees. Your analytical ability is good as you can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and suggest possible solutions.

To succeed in the assignment, you need to be a clear support for your employees, where a coaching approach is the key to success.
