The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through closeness and interaction.
Byttgränd Short-Term Accommodation is part of the Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality and offers children and young people with LSS decisions a safe, structured, and development-oriented environment where the individual's needs and conditions are at the center. The short-term stay provides a change of environment, opportunities for leisure activities, and social community while also providing relief for families.
Through an individualized approach and evidence-based methods, conditions are created to promote independence, social participation, and meaningful leisure time. The operation is located in Ersboda, close to green areas and other activity opportunities, contributing to a varied and enriching stay.
Your Responsibilities
As a staff member at Byttgränd Short-Term Accommodation, you are part of a team working to create a safe, meaningful, and developing stay for children and young people. Together with your colleagues, you support the individual's ability to live as independently as possible and contribute to a stimulating and secure environment.
You actively participate in the daily lives of the children and young people by assisting with daily routines such as meals, cleaning, laundry, and personal care. You plan and implement activities such as walks, play, crafts, and games to promote social participation and meaningful leisure time. An important part of the work is also to collaborate with parents and ensure that each child receives the support they need.
The work also includes documentation, record-keeping, the establishment of implementation plans, and medication management.
Threats and violence, as well as heavy lifting, may occur in the workplace.
Scheduled working hours include days, evenings, weekends, and night shifts. Coordination in the disability area for children/young people is part of the position.
About You
As a person, you are secure, calm, and engaged. You have good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders. You share our values and strive to develop the operation through continuous improvements. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You have previously worked in environments where threats and violence may occur and have the ability to handle these situations professionally.
To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, as well as to write and access care documentation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
Requirements
- Trained childcare worker, nursing assistant, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience with low-arousal responses in situations of threats and violence
Meritorious
- Experience working with children/adults with autism and intellectual disabilities
- Experience with AAC/TAAC
- Experience with Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
- Experience with clear pedagogical methods
