Support Assistants for Älgvägen in Umeå Municipality

The Disability Care in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through closeness and interaction.

Short-term stays are one of the measures in LSS (The Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons) that provide children/youth with a change of environment and recreation, as well as relieve families.

The operation aims to support individuals with disabilities and strengthen their ability to live an independent life. This is done by offering a change of environment and opportunities for leisure activities, recreation, and social community in a safe and homely environment.

We are now looking for support assistants for Älgvägen!

Your Responsibilities

Your role includes working together with other staff based on our operational goal of strengthening the ability to live an independent life. You will be responsible, together with colleagues, for ensuring that the children and youth residing in the short-term accommodation have a safe and meaningful stay.

You will participate in youth activities such as walks, games in the playground, crafts, and board games. Your work will include regular household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and dishwashing. You will also document and create implementation plans. Contact and collaboration with parents is an important part of the work.

About You

We are looking for someone with healthcare education or other qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer. You have experience working with children and youth with autism and NPF diagnoses. It is an advantage if you also have pedagogical training.

We prefer candidates who have worked in environments where threats and violence may occur, and who have the ability to handle these situations professionally. Additionally, training in alternative communication, low-arousal responses, and clarifying pedagogy is desired. Knowledge of aids such as AKK, TAKK, or similar is also preferred. You have good knowledge of documentation and creating implementation plans.

Scheduled working hours include days, evenings, weekends, and on-call combinations. Coordination in the disability area for children/youth is part of the position.

To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, as well as to write and access care documentation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written forms.

You are a calm and secure person with good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders around our users. We place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position.
