Criminal Policy Unit, Ministry of Justice
Do you want to help develop the criminal policy area? Our overarching mission is to contribute to a knowledge-based development in the criminal policy area and to assist the government in implementing its policies. The unit is responsible for issues related to crime prevention, support for crime victims, and criminal policy analysis. The unit is also responsible for the governance of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the Crime Prevention Council, and the Crime Victim Authority. Governance of the justice system's digitalization and legal information are other areas within the unit's responsibility.

We are now looking for an employee whose tasks will mainly consist of issues related to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. You will be part of a team responsible for the governance and follow-up of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operations, and together you will play an important role in developing it. The work includes analyzing and assessing the authority's operations and resource needs. The work also involves other tasks such as drafting and preparing proposals for government assignments, compiling materials for the department's political leadership, responding to questions and interpellations from the parliament, and participating in international reviews. You may also work with other parts of the unit's operations.
It is common for quickly prepared materials and positions to be required in current issues, and you should therefore find it enjoyable to work under conditions where you are prepared for the unexpected. Your work is characterized by close dialogue and collaboration both within the unit and with other units within the department and the Government Offices, as well as with other authorities.

Your Background
We want you to have a relevant university education in, for example, economics, law, or social sciences. We see that you have experience working at a strategic level in public administration and have good knowledge of the Swedish administrative model and the government's governance of authorities.
Experience working with governance within the Government Offices or at a strategic level within the justice system's authorities is an advantage. It is also advantageous to have good knowledge of the Government Offices' working methods and processes, as well as knowledge/experience in the unit's subject area. Furthermore, knowledge of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operations is also an advantage. To thrive in our working methods, you also need to be a skilled writer and feel comfortable giving oral presentations in both Swedish and English.

As a person, you have the ability to work independently, and you ensure that you take your own initiatives within your area of responsibility while making relevant checks. Your working style is also characterized by structure and the ability to handle multiple parallel processes simultaneously, between which you are comfortable shifting focus and prioritizing when needed. You have the ability to independently see what needs to be done, you enjoy both taking responsibility and being part of a team, collaborating with others towards common goals. You have the ability to find solutions through a constructive working method.

The position is one or more permanent employments with a six-month probationary period as a start. The position is placed in a security class, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a decision on employment is made.
