JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you want to contribute to a safer society? As a correctional officer in a prison, you are the foundation of the security work. You work in teams with other professionals to maintain a safe and secure environment and to motivate clients towards a life without crime. Daily tasks include locking and unlocking residential rooms, searching premises, and supervision, as well as communication with clients and preparation for release, among other things. The role of a correctional officer involves a structured and routine-based approach with a focus on risk assessment and security awareness. The work is varied, and there are many development opportunities for those seeking continued employment. It is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.

You will begin your employment at the workplace with an introduction in week 23, and you are expected to be able to work throughout the summer period.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).

OTHER

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. A security check will precede the hiring decision. Certain positions are classified as security-sensitive, and a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. For positions with a higher security classification, you must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
