JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied: care, surveillance, searches, and security work mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• A complete high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Therefore, we conduct a security check before deciding whether you will be employed with us. Some positions are classified, and we will conduct a security assessment with a background check before making hiring decisions. For positions with a higher security classification, you need to be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background. The operations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service run 24/7, all year round. This means you will work days, evenings, and weekends. Some schedules involve night shifts.
