MSB is Sweden's preparedness operator and manages and develops Sweden's critical communication services – Rakel, SGSI, and WIS – which play a central role in total defense.

We are currently in an exciting development phase with several extensive projects.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

As an operational IT security specialist, you will work to strengthen the security of our critical communication services. You will manage and prevent security vulnerabilities by analyzing, identifying, and addressing vulnerabilities in systems and networks. An important part of the job involves actively monitoring and managing IT security incidents, as well as developing and implementing technical safeguards such as firewalls, encryption, and authentication solutions.

You will be part of a dedicated team where you will work together to develop and enhance the security capabilities of our services. The work is both strategic and operational, meaning you will participate in long-term security improvements and act quickly on incidents. The role offers a dynamic and technical environment where you can develop in the role and work with critical security issues in a vital societal operation. The role also includes monitoring the external environment and keeping up with technological developments so that we can continuously adapt and improve our security solutions.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant post-secondary education in IT or equivalent work experience as assessed by the employer.
• Experience working with IT security.
• Experience working with security solutions such as firewalls, encryption, authentication, and security monitoring.
• Experience in handling IT security incidents.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience in software development, penetration testing, or red team exercises.
• Knowledge of standards in information and IT security, such as ISO 27000, CIS Controls, NIST.
• Experience working within communication services or telecommunications.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel may be required.

Swedish citizenship is a requirement for employment at MSB as it involves placement in a security class. For employment, a satisfactory result in the security screening with background check is required, conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act.

About Us

In the unit for security and delivery support, we have about 20 employees, and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm. In our unit, we have both more experienced and more junior employees. The operation for critical communication services is currently responsible for Rakel, WIS, and SGSI.
