Kustbevakningen is looking for a Legal Counsel
Kustbevakningen is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and environmental rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. During the preparedness for environmental rescue, we work preventively with environmental monitoring while promoting a sustainable marine environment. We also conduct supervision and control of fishing, customs, border control, hunting, and nature conservation at sea. Additionally, we work to increase safety through maritime traffic monitoring and maintain constant readiness for sea rescue. Around the clock, all year round, we are present along Sweden's coast, protecting lives and the environment, now and for the future.

Description
Kustbevakningen is looking for a Legal Counsel for the Legal Unit, based in Karlskrona or Gothenburg.
As a Legal Counsel, your main responsibilities will be to provide internal legal advice, primarily concerning Kustbevakningen's responsibilities for rescue services at sea and maritime surveillance.
Maritime surveillance includes coordination and dissemination of maritime information, control and supervision activities within customs and border control, police monitoring and maintaining order, as well as crime-fighting activities. The advice also covers issues related to civil protection and total defense, public access and confidentiality, administrative law, labor law, contract law, procurement, personal data processing and data protection, as well as information security, operational security, and maritime safety.
Your tasks will also include monitoring national, EU, and international legal developments within the authority's area, developing and revising the authority's governing documents, and conducting legal quality reviews of decisions and other documents prepared within the authority.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a law degree (jur.kand. /juristexamen) and several years of experience in qualified legal work. Experience in Kustbevakningen's operational area, as well as experience and competence in legal work related to criminal investigations, pre-trial leadership, or crime-fighting in general, as well as confidentiality assessments in such cases, are advantageous. The same applies to several years of experience working within the judiciary or another government agency that collaborates with Kustbevakningen or has similar responsibilities and tasks. Kustbevakningen's operations are broad, so it is beneficial if you have worked with many different types of criminal cases, and experience in maritime law is a merit.
To succeed in this role, you need to approach your tasks with a solution-focused and flexible mindset. You have a good ability to quickly switch between different tasks. You are outgoing and thrive in social contexts, have good collaboration skills, and can adapt your communication style to the situation and person. At the same time, you are independent, self-driven, and highly engaged in your tasks. You are structured with strong analytical and administrative skills. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. When hiring, we place great importance on your personal qualities and abilities.
Conditions
The position is a permanent employment with an initial probationary period. Start date will be agreed upon.
Business travel is included in the employment, both domestically and internationally.
Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required for employment. Tests will be conducted as part of the recruitment process.
Kustbevakningen participates in overseas assignments and international missions. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for operations.
In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be placed in a military position.
