JOB DESCRIPTION

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients as well as clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision. The probation service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an electronic tag, and community service. The work within the probation service largely consists of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for enforcement. The probation service also works to lead treatment programs for probation clients.

As a probation officer, you will actively participate in the influence work directed at clients, including structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. Your tasks will also include conducting personal investigations and providing opinions to the court and suggesting appropriate sanctions. The Probation Service Vänersborg operates mainly in work teams with some specialization in the above areas. Administration and documentation are part of the job.

As part of our recruitment process, we will invite candidates we choose to move forward with to an information meeting on April 14 at 17:00 in Vänersborg. The purpose of this meeting is to create a clearer picture of the probation service as an organization, what the position of probation officer entails, and practical information regarding employment. We will also discuss how the recruitment process will proceed. There will be opportunities to speak with a recruitment specialist, probation officer, and correctional officer (head of the probation service) during this event.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, criminology, law, social work, or social sciences, or another academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• A valid driver's license (B)

It is an advantage if you have:

• Well-documented work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work
• Experience in enforcement planning and/or KrimStics
• Experience in documentation and case management
• Experience in the justice system and target group
• Experience in public authority exercise
• Experience in investigative work
• Experience in probation work

Some positions are placed in a security class, and a security assessment with a background check will be conducted before a decision on employment is made. For positions with a higher security class, you need to be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background.
