Resident Guides for Northeast

The mission of Democracy and Citizen Services is to support the city's operations in developing and delivering services to residents, visitors, and businesses, as well as creating conditions for citizens' democratic participation and influence. This means we are responsible for Gothenburg City’s contact center, provide methodological support for service and democracy development, and coordinate and develop external digital channels such as goteborg.se. We run the city's citizen offices, Sign Language Forum, Rainbow House, and Romano Center in the West, which is a Roma information and knowledge center. We also offer consumer advice and budget and debt counseling. Additionally, we are responsible for Gothenburg City’s guardianship activities. Our department has over 250 employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you the one who opens opportunities for more? The Department for Democracy and Citizen Services is now looking for resident guides for Northeast. Maybe it’s you?

The goal of the resident guides' activities is to increase residents' participation, influence, and trust by spreading information, telling about the city's operations, and what opportunities exist for residents in Gothenburg to make an impact.

As a resident guide, you will work part-time and serve as a communication channel between Gothenburg City’s operations and residents. Your task is to carry out various communication assignments to reach specific target groups in the area. You will also contribute to the planning and evaluation of assignments together with coordinators and organizers. Communication tasks may include distributing information and talking to residents in squares and streets, working proactively to reach associations, and holding/participating in activities and lectures taking place in the local area. As a guide, you also serve as the ear-to-the-ground, helping to provide a picture of residents' opinions and thoughts.

We offer you an important assignment with the opportunity to influence and contribute to increased participation and trust! As a resident guide with us, you will also undergo training and receive support from coordinators and organizers.

You will work part-time and have a schedule to follow, and during schedule planning, you have the opportunity to influence when you can work. You will be able to work days, evenings, and weekends. We are looking for part-time positions at various percentages, such as 20%, 25%. Welcome with your application!

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have a strong interest and commitment to community and democratic issues
• You have a broad network in Northeast. For example, through being or having been active in an association, volunteer work, or civil society organization working in the area
• We would like you to live in Northeast or have a close connection to the area in another way.

It is an advantage if you can speak English, Arabic, Somali, Turkish, Persian, Finnish, or another language in addition to Swedish.

Since the assignment focuses on creating conditions for participation, influence, and trust for all Gothenburgers, it is important that you are relationship-building/collaborative, communicative, socially confident, and have a good attitude where you show respect and consideration for those you meet.

The number of resident guides to be recruited is 2. The work is part-time between 20-25%.
