Your tasks – analyzing opportunities and challenges for the future power system

The power system is undergoing significant changes to meet society's future increasing demand for fossil-free electricity. The Swedish Energy Agency's analytical work aims to assist both the government and other stakeholders with adequate decision-making support. You now have the opportunity to be part of that analytical work. An exciting assignment for you who want to assist in the development forward while deepening your knowledge.

As an analyst, you will be part of the System Analysis and Statistics department, where you will work broadly on issues related to the power system and electricity market. A large part of your work will be project-based, where you collaborate with colleagues to analyze the function of the power system and electricity market and the various consequences that proposed changes may bring. You will start from society's needs in both the short and long term, and the connection to the energy system as a whole will be of utmost importance. The analyses can be both follow-up and forward-looking with proposals for measures, steering instruments, or regulatory changes needed to create conditions for the future.

As an analyst at the Swedish Energy Agency, you will work in an academic environment with a broad knowledge base and many years of experience. You will work independently as well as in groups where collaboration occurs between units, within the department, and with the agency as a whole. Dialogue and collaboration also take place with external stakeholders. As part of your work, you will also write and present materials both internally and externally.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic education that the employer deems relevant, such as in engineering, economics, or natural sciences, combined with knowledge of the Swedish energy system. You have excellent skills in the Swedish language in both spoken and written form, and a good ability to absorb information in English. Additionally, you have good IT skills in modern systems.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of the flexibility, robustness, and security of supply of the power system and electricity market. The same applies if you have knowledge of national regulations and EU regulations related to the power system and/or electricity market. We also see it as advantageous if you have experience in electricity market modeling or electricity market, electricity, and/or energy systems analysis. Experience in investigative work or similar is also advantageous in this recruitment.

About the workplace

The System Analysis and Statistics department is the hub of the Swedish Energy Agency's investigative work, and the responsibility extends across all types of energy issues, energy and power system issues, policy analyses, follow-ups and evaluations, forecasts, and scenarios. We actively work with all three pillars of energy policy. The government is our primary client, but we also work to enhance knowledge in society at large.

Good to know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security class, which means security screening and background checks according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment may also involve military placement within the agency.
