The Disability Care Services in Umeå municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

We are now looking for a support educator for the group homes Sandviksvägen/Svedbergsgatan in Holmsund.

The service is aimed at adults with various disabilities who have been granted housing according to LSS. As an employee within the service, you and your colleagues play an important role in working towards individually tailored support to create a predictable, safe, and meaningful existence.

Your Responsibilities

As a support educator, you have in-depth knowledge and specialist competence in the area. You work both with practical interventions and have a complementary task to guide, ensure quality, and support your colleagues in the work with social documentation, implementation plans, and the application of the Social Board's recommended working methods.

You work on behalf of your manager, and the assignments may vary over time depending on the needs of the services.

As a support educator, you are part of a network with other support educators, where you are offered collegial support and professional development.

About You

You are confident in your professional role and have a professional approach. Your good communication skills enable you to collaborate well with both users, relatives, and colleagues. We are looking for someone who sees and meets each individual based on their unique circumstances and needs. To succeed in the role, you need to be positive, flexible, and engaged. You thrive in a changing environment and strive for continuous improvement. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in the form of at least 200 YH credits, support educator or other equivalent YH education.
• Alternatively, 60 HP relevant courses related to disability care.
• Programs and/or courses with a clear focus on working with intellectual, cognitive, and mental disabilities.
• For example: Ethical approaches, Pedagogical theories and methods, Alternative and augmentative communication, Cognitive support, Coaching approaches.

Several years of experience working with people with disabilities or other work experience that we find equivalent.

Meritorious:

Experience with alternative and augmentative communication, AAC.
