Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

Askebyskolan is a F - 6 school with about 330 students including adapted primary school (about 30 students), a local special education group F-3, and about 70 staff.

The school is located in Rinkeby and has suitable facilities about 5 minutes from the subway. The school is in a development phase where the focus is on a language-developing approach, leadership, and stimulation as well as aesthetic learning processes. Our common holistic idea is aesthetic learning processes, and we strongly believe in the significance of aesthetics for deep knowledge and whole individuals - the student's access to all languages and forms of expression.

We are proud of our beautiful and well-equipped craft rooms, and as our current textile teacher is retiring, we are looking for you who want to continue developing the craft subject and aesthetic learning processes as a pedagogical tool.

Your role

As a teacher at Askebyskolan, you are responsible for planning, teaching, evaluating, and assessing in crafts. You will closely collaborate with your colleague in wood and metal crafts. You are part of a work team and lead the aesthetic subject team where you collaborate with colleagues and are an important part of the collegial learning to create new and deepened knowledge. About 4 times per term, you will meet all craft teachers in Järva for experience exchange.

At Askebyskolan, aesthetic expressions are an important resource for building self-confidence, inclusion, and language development. For us, it is important that all students, through aesthetics, gain increased access to another language. We need to use all senses to create meaningful knowledge, and we believe that individuals create knowledge in social and cultural contexts.

You will teach in both primary school and adapted primary school. You are also expected to collaborate with the after-school program by creating joint projects and guiding staff on suitable activities.

As a lead teacher, you will lead the pedagogical development at the school together with the school management and other lead teachers, where you will particularly be responsible for the aesthetic learning processes.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher, have high expectations for students' achievement, possess good pedagogical insight, and are clear and engaged to bring out the best in students. You who apply:

  • are particularly skilled in your profession
  • initiate and drive school development
  • are well acquainted with systematic quality work
  • are used to mentoring colleagues
  • have good collaboration skills
  • have good Swedish in speech and writing

You have a good ability to design teaching in accordance with curricula, subject plans, and current knowledge requirements. You take responsibility for and have insight into students' results and needs and structure and adapt your teaching to create a safe and adequate learning environment. You involve the student in planning and develop the student's ability to learn, both independently and together with others.

You are secure, stable, have self-awareness, and are a clear leader in the classroom. You value and create good conditions for collaboration and establish good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You plan, organize, prioritize, and analyze your lesson structure as well as other tasks included in your role effectively.

It is meritorious if you have experience working with AAC - alternative and augmentative communication, such as visual support. It is also meritorious if you have experience teaching in adapted primary school.

We place great importance on personal suitability.
