Chief Engineer in Information and Communication Systems
Are you an engineer with an interest in developing information and communication systems for the Swedish Armed Forces? Do you want to work on producing systems aimed at making Sweden and the world safer? We are looking for several chief engineers, and you could be one of them.
Job Responsibilities
As a Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of the Armed Forces' command support systems. A central part of the work is to prepare documentation for technical decisions. You are expected to monitor changes in requirements placed on the technical systems in collaboration with colleagues within FMV, the Armed Forces, and the industry. This is to deliver safe and usable systems and products for Sweden's defense. In your role as Chief Engineer, the holistic perspective is important, and you will work closely with the Armed Forces' design management throughout all phases of the system lifecycle, from concept to decommissioning.
The position is located in Stockholm. Travel may occur domestically and internationally.
We are looking for someone who
Has an engineering degree (bachelor's or master's) or equivalent competence acquired in another way. You have several years of experience working with Systems Engineering and possess good knowledge in the field. It is advantageous if you have worked with command support systems within the Armed Forces, the Defence Materiel Administration, another authority, or industry. It is also beneficial if you have several years of experience in product management. If you have previously worked with system procurement, that is a plus, and we would like you to have experience in the operation and management of technical systems. Experience with FMV's and/or the Armed Forces' working methods is an advantage. To succeed in the role, you need to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
We place great importance on personal qualities. You think strategically and have a broad perspective on issues. You consider the long-term significance and further consequences of matters. You work towards goals and focus on results. You lead, motivate, and empower others to effectively achieve common goals. You structure your approach and drive your work forward. To be successful in the position, you need to have excellent collaboration skills.
About Us
The command system area works with today's and tomorrow's rapidly developing technology that supports the Armed Forces' soldiers, sailors, and officers in communicating with each other, gaining a better overview of the situation, and making decisions. The technology enables everything from individual systems, such as Archer, Jas 39 Gripen, Corvette Visby, and Combat Vehicle 90, to entire units to achieve maximum effectiveness. Command systems often lay the foundation for operational capability. The command system area contributes to all branches of defense being able to conduct their operations and reach their full potential, thereby contributing to a stronger defense.
We are currently looking for Chief Engineers in several areas, including interoperability, where part of the job is to continuously monitor NATO requirements and their development in the field. Other areas we are seeking in include infrastructure systems, information systems, telecommunications, and command systems for aviation and the navy.
