Meal Service is now looking for a chef for the substitute pool who, together with colleagues, wants to contribute to creating joy in food for the guests.

About the role and your tasks

We are now looking for a staff member for the substitute pool within Meal Service. The substitute pool secures kitchen operations during sickness absence but also strengthens the entire organization. As an employed chef in the substitute pool, you will have the opportunity to take on assignments in the entire meal organization with a total of 46 kitchens spread throughout Lund Municipality.

Within the substitute pool, you will work with the preparation and cooking of food, dishwashing, cleaning, and serving together with the workgroups in the kitchens. You will daily start from one of our larger kitchens. Together with your colleagues, you will also actively participate in the development of the school restaurant's offerings and planning of operations for satisfied guests. A good reception is a given, and you contribute to creating a good dining experience for our guests in the school restaurant.

We are looking for you who

We are looking for someone who has completed a 3-year upper secondary education with a focus on hotel and restaurant, a chef education, or an education that the employer assesses as equivalent. Previous experience of working in a large kitchen is a requirement. If you have knowledge and interest in preparing good and nutritious food, several years of experience in the kitchen, and computer skills, we see this as meritorious. Since some of our kitchens only have one or two staff members on site, it is required that you can be self-sufficient and responsible as this may involve working alone periodically during the day or entire days with tasks both within the meal service and cleaning.

For you to thrive in the role, it is important that you are flexible in your work and can easily adapt to changing circumstances and new workplaces. Each week may involve several different workplaces. You have good teamwork skills and are attentive and accommodating in your approach. You also have an interest in helping others, sharing your knowledge, and keeping yourself updated in your field. You should be able to communicate fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written. A B driver's license and access to a car are required.

About the workplace

Meal Service consists of 46 kitchens and a meal staff, and the operations include the preparation of meals for preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, and elderly care. Daily, about 22,000 portions are prepared by about 200 employees. Meal Service strives to provide good food, promote good eating habits, and is characterized by cooperation, good service, openness, and dialogue with our partners.

The Service Administration meets the needs of Lund Municipality's other administrations and municipal companies for service. We have about 600 employees. Together, we work to build and manage the municipality's buildings, premises, and housing and ensure that they are intact, clean, and functioning as they should. We prepare food for the municipality's children, youth, and elderly, we take care of green areas around the municipality's buildings, and we manage the municipality's vehicles and transport.
