Unit for Military Capability at the Ministry of Defence

Do you want to work at the center of Swedish and international defense and security policy? The Ministry of Defence is developing its operations based on the changing global situation and Sweden's membership in NATO. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to Sweden's security through developing tasks in a very dynamic work environment.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with issues related to NATO, government management, and bi- or multilateral defense cooperation. The tasks involve independently handling cases and preparing materials for questions within the area of responsibility.

The tasks include gathering and analyzing information from the Armed Forces and other authorities as well as international organizations in preparation for government decisions. Furthermore, the tasks involve preparing materials for the political leadership, drafting responses to parliamentary questions, interpellations, and inquiries from the public. To solve these tasks, the ability to create and maintain contacts both internally and externally, as well as nationally and internationally, is required. The position may also involve representing the Ministry of Defence at international meetings and negotiations.

Your background

You have an academic education or equivalent that is assessed as comparable with a relevant focus for the position, e.g., economics, political science, or law. You have experience working with similar issues in the Government Offices, another government agency, or at an international organization. You must also have good knowledge of public administration and knowledge of defense and security policy. You have a very good ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Relevant and current knowledge about NATO and the EU is advantageous, as well as service in a relevant international organization or in international missions, and knowledge about military defense or Total Defense.

Your qualities

As a person, you should have a very good ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You should have good initiative, be responsible, and structured. Furthermore, you should be flexible when it comes to handling different types of tasks, have good judgment and analytical ability, and be able to work under time pressure.

Other

The position is a temporary appointment until February 2026, with a possibility of extension.

The position is classified and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background.
