Controller for Land and Development

Land and Development

The Land and Development Department is responsible for Region Gotland's land and development activities.

We create conditions for construction by preparing land and building public facilities.

We are responsible for Region Gotland's development projects, land issues, and provide expert knowledge in several areas of the urban planning process, such as detailed planning and comprehensive planning. We contribute to long-term land supply and ensure that there is buildable land, which helps us achieve the goals of the regional development strategy. A well-functioning urban planning and development process contributes to achieving sustainable community development.

The department includes engineers in land, development, and environment, land and development strategists, project managers, project developers, business developers, and controllers. The department consists of 16 employees.

Your Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants to work as a controller for the land and development activities, where you will work on development and sales projects. As a controller, you will prepare financial documentation and conduct analyses aimed at creating a basis for decisions with financial consequences.

You will work with development plans and budgets, goals and budgets, as well as forecasts and follow-up of the department's finances. The role includes providing support on financial matters directly to managers and project leaders operationally, tactically, and strategically. In the long term, you may also support financial matters for other departments within the urban planning administration.

Projects within land and development can vary in size and complexity, with a focus on development reporting. The assignment also includes contacts with other authorities on financial matters.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics or equivalent education or work experience that the employer deems relevant for the position.

You have experience working with and/or supporting operations in finance and accounting. You have good knowledge and experience working with systems in the area as well as very good skills in Excel. We consider it an advantage if you have experience in controller work within land and development and/or in a supportive role to managers. We also believe that previous experience or knowledge in the public sector can be beneficial for the position.

To succeed in the role of controller, you need to be structured, self-driven, and proactive. You have excellent analytical skills and work with great precision. The assignment requires good collaboration skills and a high degree of independence. Due to the complexity of the operations, you need to be good at creating an overview, seeing the bigger picture, and connections. You also need to have a good ability to listen and create participation, and it is important that you want to work in a supportive role in dialogue with managers and employees within your area of responsibility. You should also be able to convey information clearly and simply, both verbally and in writing.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
