Are you interested in society, analytical, and enjoy development? Do you have high integrity and want to work with socially beneficial and complex issues? We audit all operations of the City of Gothenburg on behalf of elected auditors. At the audit office, you will therefore work with issues that affect many people. You participate in societal development through audits that form the basis for change, discussion, and decisions at the highest political level in the municipality. The work is stimulating, varied, and provides deep knowledge of the municipality's various operations. You work with knowledgeable and engaged colleagues and have close contacts with the elected auditors. You also have contacts with both politicians and civil servants in the municipality. We are Sweden's largest office in municipal auditing, in terms of the number of employees and the amount of auditing we perform. We carry out almost all operational audits ourselves, while the financial audits are conducted by auditing firms. Our office is located in central Gothenburg.

We want our organization to be characterized by openness and respect for differences, and we believe that diversity and a balanced gender distribution contribute to the development of our operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an auditor, you are responsible for independently, and in collaboration with colleagues, planning, conducting, and reporting audits of one or more committees and companies in the City of Gothenburg. The City Audit reviews all operations conducted by the City of Gothenburg's committees and wholly and partially owned companies. Therefore, you should be able to familiarize yourself with operations of completely different character as well as relevant legislation and the municipality's regulations governing the operations. Methodologically, the audit work can to some extent be likened to a qualified investigative work. The assignment includes handling a large amount of information and assessing what is essential and relevant.

Some audits are conducted in the form of projects, often involving areas that concern several operations in the city and/or issues that are more complex. You should be able to switch between the roles of project leader and project team member. Reporting of the audit occurs to some extent continuously throughout the year, but most is done once a year. This places high demands on the ability to independently plan and carry out your work. The assignment includes producing written reports and presenting the results of the audit to the elected auditors as well as to the relevant committee/company board. As an auditor, you have a close dialogue with the elected auditors. At the audit office, we encourage competence development and value employees' influence and participation. We are constantly working to develop our working methods and approaches. You are expected to actively contribute to the development of the operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a university degree in social sciences or economics, possess good knowledge of social science methods, and have experience in qualified investigative work within the public sector.

Good analytical skills are a fundamental prerequisite for being able to work as an operational auditor. You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem, have the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions based on limited and/or complex information. You take responsibility for your and shared tasks and complete ongoing work within the existing frameworks. You are structured, use your time effectively, and work systematically, organized, and methodically. Written and oral reporting is an important part of the job. You express yourself well in speech and writing and can articulate the core of a problem clearly and effectively. You adapt your communication according to the recipient, target group, and situation. The assignment requires the ability to be flexible, meaning you should be able to adapt yourself and your working methods based on changed conditions and new information. You should also be able to change your perspective and approach and see opportunities for change. As a person, you find it easy to collaborate with others, are a good listener, and have high integrity. You understand the common mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole.

Experience working in operations conducted by municipalities (including municipal companies) is advantageous, as is experience in supervisory work. Experience in municipal/public finance/financial management is also advantageous.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. The position may involve security clearance requirements.

OTHER

With us, you will have an employer that promotes equal rights and opportunities regardless of background or professional competence, a secure employment, and meaningful tasks. You will receive good vacation terms, wellness grants, bicycle grants, and other discounts and offers.
