About the Organization

The Naval Warfare School (SSS) lays the foundation for Swedish naval capability. The focus of SSS operations is the combat capability of naval units. This focus will constitute the dimensional requirements for all training, development, and unit training at SSS, with the desired end state being increased availability with coordinated naval combat units. The Naval Warfare School's Naval Combat Unit is located in Lindholmen. As a simulator technician at the Naval Combat Unit, you will work in a close-knit team and should have a good ability to collaborate.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure that training and exercise activities with training facilities and simulators can be conducted with as few technical interruptions as possible, and in a safe manner
• Be responsible for planning and executing technical operations at the unit according to given directives
• Act as a helpdesk regarding technical installations for both students and instructors
• Support other sections within the naval combat unit in their training activities
• Serve as an instructor for technical training
• Conduct routine operational and maintenance actions
• Expected to work independently and take significant responsibility regarding the Naval Combat Unit's technical systems
• Act as a game master under the guidance of instructors
• Conduct and participate in technical training
• Perform new installations, troubleshooting, and repairs of both hardware and software as needed

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Approved high school education with a technical focus or another qualification deemed relevant by the employer
• Current experience in systems technical operations as assessed relevant by the employer
• Current and good knowledge of IT and networks
• Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English
• Experience working in Windows-based IT systems
• Driver's license B

The work requires high stress tolerance and a pragmatic approach that often involves solving emerging problems quickly and effectively. You need to be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, with short preparation time, and feel comfortable with constantly changing conditions. • Experience working with radio, radar, and communication
• Knowledge of VMware, ESXi
• Knowledge of Linux/UNIX
• Experience in technical work or equivalent work within the Armed Forces as deemed relevant by the employer

Other

The position is a permanent civilian employment at 100% with a 40-hour work week. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not currently employed by the authority. Place of employment: Karlskrona. Start date according to agreement. Individual salary setting applies. Work on evenings and weekends, as well as business trips, may occur.

The Naval Warfare School, SSS, trains officers, specialist officers, sailors, and soldiers at all levels. SSS also conducts studies, trials, and leadership training of ship crews as well as tactics and technology development within the maritime area. SSS also has a responsibility for Diving and Naval Medicine in the Armed Forces. SSS is mainly based in Karlskrona in Blekinge but also has a unit in Berga outside Stockholm that specializes in amphibious warfare.
