Do you want to help build a school library from the ground up? We are looking for an engaged school librarian who wants to develop a modern, pedagogical resource that strengthens teaching and student learning.

Växjö Fria Gymnasium is a committed and forward-looking school with approximately 570 students. We offer both college preparatory and vocational programs and actively work to ensure that all our students reach their full potential. Our school is characterized by an open and inclusive environment where collaboration between students and teachers is a given. We are now looking for a school librarian who wants to help develop our library into an inspiring pedagogical resource and a natural meeting place for our students.

About the position: As a school librarian with us, you will be an important part of the school's educational activities. You will work closely with subject teachers to strengthen students' language development, information literacy, and critical thinking skills. Your mission includes both the physical and digital development of the school library, where accessibility and reading enjoyment are the focus.

Your main responsibilities:

• Create a library that serves as a pedagogical resource for students and teachers.
• Collaborate with teaching within our high school programs (Health and Care, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Economics, and Child and Leisure), resource school, and adult education.
• Support students in critical thinking, media and information literacy (MIL), and AI usage.
• Promote reading enjoyment and enable differentiated reading through physical books, digital resources, and magazines.
• Meet and support all students.
• Develop a flexible library concept without fixed walls to create an open and accessible learning environment with study and gathering spaces.
• Administer lending and digital services, focusing on self-service to free up time for pedagogical work.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a degree in library and information science or other relevant education.
• Has experience working in schools and an understanding of the pedagogical role of school libraries.
• Is creative, proactive, and has the ability to build a program from the ground up.
• Thrives in collaboration with both students and staff and wants to be an active part of the teaching.
• Has knowledge of MIL, AI, and digital learning resources.
