We are looking for a machine operator based in Kåge. You will have a varied job throughout the year with great responsibility and the opportunity to influence your own workday.

YOUR ROLE

As a machine operator, you help ensure that streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, water and sewer systems, and parks function as they should – all year round. The work is varied and combines machine operation with practical work outside the machine.

During the winter half-year, you work with snow clearance, anti-icing, and other seasonal measures. During the open-ground season, the focus is on operation and maintenance work such as repairing plow damage, excavation, restoration after water leaks, as well as ground and water/sewer work such as pipe replacement, ditching, and paving.

A large part of the work is about getting the whole to function – preparing surfaces, filling in material, and ensuring that work is completed in a sustainable way.

The work is planned, but in everyday life you need to be able to see what needs to be done and take responsibility for it being carried out. You are unpretentious and can step in where needed, for example in case of changes in the work or absence in the work team.

On-call duty with evening and weekend work may occur, and you may also drive other vehicles within the operation for which you have the necessary qualifications.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

To thrive in the role, we believe you are a person who takes responsibility for your work and has a good structure in everyday life. You plan, follow up, and ensure that what you start is completed. At the same time, you maintain your calm and focus even when the pace increases or something unexpected happens.

You enjoy collaborating with others, sharing experiences, and finding practical solutions that make the work flow. The work is partly physical and takes place outdoors, which requires good physical conditions.

You need to be able to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and use digital tools in your daily work – for example, to report time and handle driving orders.

To be considered, you need:

• Category C driving license
• Valid YKB (Certificate of Professional Competence for drivers of buses and trucks)
• Operator's certificate for wheeled loaders (construction)

Since each vehicle has its own cost tracking, it is important that you drive and maintain the machine with care – for the sake of safety and economy.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience in similar work, such as sanding, plowing, sweeping, or sand collection
• Experience in construction work
• Professional certificate for wheeled loaders (construction)
• Category BE or CE driving license
• Digital driver card
• Work on the road

YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

You will become part of the Streets and Parks operation within the Urban Development Administration, where we together are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipality's public environments. Here we work closely together, help each other in everyday life, and step in for each other when needed.

Skellefteå is in a strong phase of development, which makes our assignment both important and concrete. The work you and your colleagues do is visible – every day, all year round.

Working hours are essentially 07:00–16:00 with flexibility options. On-call duty may occur. We offer generous holiday terms and good opportunities for recovery.
