What will you work with?

As an investigator on the unit, you will contribute to the strategic work in the areas of physical activity and sedentary behavior, with a special focus on structural issues that affect the population's health.

The work involves contributing to the Agency's work on physical activity and sedentary behavior, where a central part is to develop knowledge support to strengthen the Agency's and other actors' ability to conduct effective public health work. The work involves outward-facing work and broad collaboration with various actors.

The work also includes standard tasks for investigators at the Agency, such as responding to consultations, working with environmental scanning, communicating the unit's work in various forums, participating in the Agency's network and working groups, and contributing to the unit's and the Agency's general development work.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for the position:

• A Master's degree in public health, social sciences, behavioral sciences, political science, or another relevant field that the Agency considers equivalent.

In addition, we view these competencies, abilities, and experiences as important for you to thrive with us:

Great emphasis is placed on:

• Personal qualities such as good teamwork skills, being responsible, and communicative. You have a holistic perspective and good interpersonal skills.
• Experience in developing knowledge support to guide public health work at regional and local levels.
• Experience working with issues related to physical activity and sedentary behavior.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

Emphasis is placed on:

• Experience in leading and facilitating workshops and network meetings.
• Experience in investigative work at an Agency or other organization with knowledge-supporting assignments related to public health.
• Experience in cross-sectoral collaboration with actors such as municipalities, regions, civil society, and academia.

Emphasis is also placed on:

• Experience in structural change work within the public health field, such as how lifestyle habits can be integrated into other policy areas, and how the physical environment (e.g., bike paths, green areas) affects people's opportunities to live healthily.
• Experience in health promotion and preventive work at the national level.

What does the unit do?

The Unit for Health-Promoting Lifestyles and Living Conditions is responsible for the Agency's work on compiling, analyzing, and disseminating knowledge about physical activity and sedentary behavior, food-related health, overweight and obesity, and outdoor recreation. The unit also has a special responsibility for children and young people.

About the employment

You will be employed as an investigator with placement at our office in Solna or Östersund. The employment is a fixed-term full-time position until May 31, 2027. The start date is as soon as possible according to agreement.

As an employee of the Public Health Agency, you may be assigned to wartime duties. Some positions are classified security-clearance positions where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. Security clearance will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

There may be an opportunity at the Agency to agree on remote work up to 40 percent of your working time.
