Description

The Unit for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for Seriously Antisocial Behavior (BUP-ANB) is a new regional operation starting in 2026. The operation builds on the government mandate Integrated Care (2021-2024) and offers specialist psychiatric care to children and young people up to 21 years of age placed in society, who exhibit seriously antisocial behavior and have concurrent psychiatric care needs when regular outpatient care is insufficient.

The unit will consist of four mobile, cross-professional teams comprising doctors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and care administrators. In total, the unit will have approximately 25 employees.

The target group is children and young people with complex psychiatric and social comorbidity, often with experience of care breakdowns, repeated placements, and severe mental illness.

The catchment area covers the entire Region of Västra Götaland. Initially, the operation is directed towards young people placed in Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) homes in the region. In the long term, children and young people in residential care homes (HVB) and within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service are also planned to be included in the mandate.

The unit belongs to the Neurology and Child Psychiatry area at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the section for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Care and Special Clinics.

The operation is mobile and meets patients where they are. The work is team-based, involving close collaboration between professions.

Responsibilities

As a doctor in BUP-ANB, you have overall medical responsibility and a central role in the team. The focus is on the investigation, assessment, and treatment of complex psychiatric conditions.

You will:

• be responsible for psychiatric diagnostics and medical assessments
• conduct new patient visits and lead and follow up on investigations and treatment
• contribute specialist knowledge to the team's clinical assessments
• participate in coordinated care planning with SiS, social services, and other healthcare providers
• supervise and provide consultative support to staff and collaboration partners
• contribute to increased knowledge of psychiatric conditions in the child's or young person's daily environment

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed doctor with specialist competence in child and adolescent psychiatry or adult psychiatry.

You have experience of psychiatric investigation, diagnostics, and treatment, as well as work with children and young people with complex psychiatric problems.

You are confident in your medical competence, can make independent assessments, and have good collaboration skills. You work in a structured manner and wish to contribute to the development of a new regional operation.

Meritorious experience includes:

• children and young people in state care
• complex comorbidity, e.g., trauma, neuropsychiatric conditions, or self-harm behavior
• inpatient care/development or start-up work

You have good ability to work in teams and in cross-professional contexts.

Personal suitability is given great weight.
