Job Description

Shipping in Sweden is facing major changes. At Trafikverket Ferry Operations, we are undergoing a transformation process towards electrification, climate adaptation, automation, and digitalization. This will impact our 70 ferries, 750 employees, and 22 million passengers. Trafikverket Ferry Operations aims to be at the forefront, driving development towards more sustainable and smart solutions.

According to our long-term plan, Vision 45, Trafikverket Ferry Operations is working to achieve carbon-neutral ferry operations by 2045. We are working on the electrification of the ferries, and Vision 45 also opens up for using smart digital solutions to meet climate goals. To achieve these goals, we now need to hire a Shipping Engineer for a fixed-term position on our Technology and Environment Department. The position is located at Trafikverket's regional office in Stockholm/Solna.

As a Shipping Engineer/Project Manager, you will be part of the Technology and Environment Department, which currently consists of 16 employees, a Maintenance Manager, and a Technology and Environment Manager. The department plays a central role within Trafikverket Ferry Operations, providing support while driving continued development. In collaboration with operational operations, districts, and shipyards, the department ensures that the result unit has effective support in the technical area.

Some of the tasks you will have include:

• acting as a contact person and technical support for several ferry routes (approx. 20), mostly on the west coast
• leading smaller projects and preparing specifications for maintenance work on our facilities
• participating in procurement and ordering from Trafikverket's framework agreements for maintenance work at ferry terminals and guard houses
• contributing to technical solution and warranty issues
• maintaining and following up on work in the database used for Trafikverket's facilities
• ordering and following up on investigations concerning our facilities
• ordering and following up on inspections of guard houses and ferry terminals
• being involved in the preparation of maintenance programs for guard houses and ferry terminals
• handling contacts with relevant authorities and suppliers

Qualifications

You need to thrive in a role with significant responsibility where you are flexible, self-initiative, and have a good ability to collaborate and build relationships with both colleagues, managers, and external individuals/groups. You are goal- and solution-oriented and driven by development and continuous improvements. You have high integrity and an ethical and moral approach. The position also places high demands on your communication skills.

We are looking for someone who:

• has a university degree in engineering or another education we consider equivalent
• has several years of experience in project management within construction and civil engineering
• has several years of professional experience in the construction and civil engineering industry
• can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English
• have a valid driver's license for passenger cars

It is meritorious if you:

• have experience working at port and quay facilities

When the water freezes in the northern parts of our country, we are also responsible for the operation and maintenance of ice roads.
