As part of Region Gotland, the Health and Medical Care Administration is responsible for almost all publicly funded healthcare and dental care on Gotland. Our approximately 1,500 employees prioritize the patient's best interests, focusing on security, respect, integrity, and accessibility.
The island location requires the resources of a large hospital while simultaneously offering the proximity and cohesion of a smaller one. As a doctor, you will gain both depth and breadth within your field of expertise, as Visby Hospital, the island's only emergency hospital, handles all patients on Gotland. Here, you are offered the opportunity for a responsible role where you make decisions in both minor and major matters.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology department currently has around 90 employees, with the medical staff consisting of 8 permanent consultants, 4 specialty trainees (ST-doctors), and 1 assistant doctor.
Would you like to test a change in work environment for a while, or perhaps dare to make a permanent change? Communication links between Visby and the rest of the country are good. Gotland is characterized by its beautiful nature, historical cultural environment, an active cultural life, and an increasing academic presence through Uppsala University Campus Gotland, as well as a rich association life.
Your responsibilities
As a specialist doctor, you will perform standard duties, including on-call shifts, within obstetrics and gynecology. You will collaborate with colleagues and other staff to develop the department.
The island setting requires a broad scope of operations and 24/7 on-call services, with several specialty trainees receiving their education here. We have short decision-making paths and a climate that facilitates cooperation across specialty boundaries regarding patient care.
The role also includes supervising specialty trainees and candidates. Experience exchange with Karolinska University Hospital provides opportunities for professional development. We organize our own training in acute obstetrics and CEPS training. We have specialized competencies in obstetric ultrasound, gynecological oncology, and laparoscopic surgery, and are keen on passing this knowledge on.
Who are you?
You are a specialist doctor in obstetrics and gynecology.

Personal suitability will be given great weight.
A background check via an extract from the criminal record register will be conducted prior to the decision on employment.
