We are looking for an analyst with a good understanding of the electricity system as a whole and the ability to analyze how its different parts interact – from production and transmission to usage, flexibility, and system operation. Here, you will work with qualified analyses and investigations that contribute to a robust and fossil-free electricity system.

Your tasks – disseminate knowledge about fossil-free electricity production

As an analyst in the Electricity Production and Society unit, you work with qualified investigative and analytical work within the energy system, particularly focusing on the different parts of the electricity system. Your work involves providing technical expertise and developing decision support for the development of the electricity system – from the capabilities of hydropower to future fossil-free electricity production. You combine a holistic perspective with in-depth analysis in one or several sub-areas. You work on creating knowledge and decision-making materials, translating complex information into clear conclusions. You may also work on government assignments, which involves dialogue with the Government Offices, other agencies, and industry actors.

Examples of tasks:

• Lead and participate in investigative work.
• Analyze the electricity system as a whole and how electricity production is affected by various factors, such as environmental measures and how production losses relate to current reference values within hydropower.
• Analyze how the electricity system can be balanced through production, usage, and technical regulation, such as frequency control and ancillary services.
• Participate in national and international cooperation and maintain dialogue with authorities, electricity grid companies, and other industry actors.

You will become part of a unit that disseminates knowledge about the conditions for fossil-free electricity production in society. The work requires sensitivity, teamwork skills, and an interest in disseminating knowledge and solutions to complex problems.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic degree, equivalent to at least three years of full-time studies, for example, a civil engineer with a focus on energy systems, electricity systems, energy technology, or another area that the Swedish Energy Agency deems relevant. You have knowledge of the electricity system, different fossil-free power sources, and/or the electrification of society. You have knowledge or experience of investigative methodology, evaluation, project management, or equivalent, and are accustomed to drawing relevant conclusions and suggesting measures. You have very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as good data skills in modern IT systems.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience of analysis or investigative work from, for example, authorities, industry, research institutes, or industry organizations.
• Worked with planning or otherwise come into contact with permitting processes for electricity production, electricity grids, or other energy infrastructure.
• Knowledge of permitting processes within electricity production.
• Knowledge of the function and capabilities of fossil-free electricity production, preferably hydropower.

About us

The Electricity Production and Society unit's main task is to enable electrification through analyses and knowledge about the conditions for fossil-free electricity production in the electricity system and society at large. The unit works with analyses for all different types of electricity production but is also specifically responsible for assisting water authorities with analyses describing how hydropower is affected when reviewed for modern environmental conditions. We collaborate closely with other parts of the agency, as well as with other authorities and external actors.

Good to know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security classification, which means security clearance and register control according to the provisions in the Security Protection Act. In the case of permanent employment, wartime deployment in the agency may become relevant.
