Psychiatry Halland is responsible for public specialist psychiatry in Region Halland, covering child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry in both outpatient and inpatient care. The operation has approximately 900 employees and is located in all municipalities within the region.

We are now looking for a Section Manager for PIVA (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) in Halmstad – a developing unit where you will play a central role in creating structure, continuity, and quality in daily operations.

About the Role

As a Section Manager, you work closely with the Ward Manager and the Medical Director (MLA), playing a key role in creating stability and good conditions for daily work. The assignment aims to strengthen leadership, governance, working environment, and patient safety.

The position primarily involves daytime work, Monday–Friday, with the possibility of clinical work if needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating daily work on the ward and in the emergency department
  • Serving as a link in clinical daily life between the ward and neighboring care units
  • Participating in reports, rounds, and coordinated individual planning (SIP)
  • Leading parts of development and change work on behalf of the Ward Manager and MLA
  • The Section Manager acts on behalf of the manager and is responsible for leading and supporting daily work in line with the unit's goals
  • Contributing to the planning and development of patient safety work
  • Responsible for the introduction of new employees
  • Participating in debriefings related to onboarding
  • Ensuring that Safewards work continues
  • Participating in and leading work regarding deviations and improvement measures
  • Working clinically as needed and substituting the Ward Manager during short-term absences

The assignment as Section Manager is fixed-term for two years, with permanent employment in your primary profession. Follow-up will occur before any potential extension.

About the Workplace

PIVA in Halmstad is a psychiatric intensive care unit with 10 beds for patients with acute psychiatric conditions, often with short stays. Adjacent to the unit is the Psychiatric Emergency Department (PAM), where patients are received for acute assessment and triage.

We work closely with ambulances, police, social services, and other care providers, and also conduct digital triage together with the ambulance service.

Our goal is to provide safe, secure, and person-centered care with a respectful approach.

We have an active development focus and work with Safewards, evidence-based methods to strengthen safety, communication, and participation.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a registered nurse, or have other relevant education in healthcare
  • Have several years of experience working in psychiatric care
  • Have experience leading or coordinating work and thrive in a leadership role
  • Have good ability to collaborate and work in teams

You are secure and stable in your professional role, with a clear solution-oriented attitude. You work in a structured manner and communicate clearly and understandably, creating prerequisites for good collaboration. You have a good ability to engage others and create participation, especially in change work, and actively contribute to driving development forward. With a holistic perspective in your work, you always act based on the best interests of the operation and contribute to long-term sustainable solutions.

You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
