Are you an engaged traffic engineer who wants to help shape the future of sustainable transport in one of Sweden's most expansive and cycle-friendly cities? We are now looking for you to strengthen our team and take a key role in developing Lund's traffic environment.
About the role and your responsibilities
As a traffic engineer with us, you will work broadly with the municipality's ongoing traffic issues. You will, among other things, work with follow-up and analysis of traffic and travel development in Lund Municipality, investigate and process traffic cases and consultations, work on traffic safety measures and accessibility for all modes of transport, prepare decision materials for the Technical Committee, and act as an advisor on traffic matters in various contexts. The tasks are varied and will develop over time. You will have many different contacts. The public, collaboration with colleagues within the municipal organization, as well as with external stakeholders and authorities, will be part of your daily routine. You will participate in small to large development projects and lead and drive investment projects from sketch design to completed facilities.
Involvement in larger infrastructure and urban development projects may also become relevant, e.g., Lund C and Four Tracks. The recruitment may eventually result in more than one employment.
We are looking for you who
- Are educated as a Civil Engineer or University College Engineer with a focus on traffic and mobility, or equivalent education in the field.
- Have several years of work experience in a relevant area, for example, traffic engineer, traffic investigator, designer, project manager, or equivalent within infrastructure and traffic.
- Have good communication skills in both Swedish and English.
- Have good knowledge of the office package.
- Are structured, goal- and result-oriented.
- Are problem solvers, self-starters, with good analytical skills and good teamwork abilities.
- Preferably have a B driving license.
We would like you to be broad in your traffic competence, have a good understanding of the requirements and needs of different road user groups, and be able to make wise trade-offs in relation to the goals the municipality has decided on. You have good experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing programs.
Advantageous is experience of municipal technology and municipal planning processes as well as knowledge in design. Advantageous is also experience of working with traffic issues in large, complex infrastructure or urban development projects, as well as experience of driving projects and/or acting as a specialist in project groups with several different technical areas.

About the workplace
The Mobility Unit is part of the Urban Planning Department and is responsible for the planning and development of the municipality's streets, squares, and pedestrian and cycle paths. You are one of 20 employees at the Mobility Unit who focus on mobility management, traffic planning, and urban planning. We are a competent and great team with good cohesion. We ensure that Lund has a well-functioning and sustainable transport system for all road users. The unit is responsible for the planning, development, and use of the transport system in the municipality. The overarching goal of the work is to reduce emissions from the transport sector by making sustainable modes of transport – walking, cycling, and public transport – more attractive.
The workplace is located centrally in Lund right next to the railway station. We work in an activity-based office environment and have flexible working hours.
The Community Planning Administration is responsible for a broad operation covering the entire community planning process. With approximately 350 engaged and competent employees, we work with everything from urban planning, land management, and development to building permits, environmental supervision, and nature conservation. We develop and manage the public environment and contribute to sustainable urban development that includes outdoor recreation, water care, and nature protection.
